Church Records: Marriages

Holy Rosary Church of Bridgeport, CT was formally known as Our Lady of Pompeii of the Holy Rosary established in 1891.The Romanesque Revival-style church of Holy Rosary was built in 1930 to the designs by the Brooklyn architect Anthony J. DePace of DePace & Juster to serve an originally Italian congregation on Bridgeport’s East Side. The Church was closed in 2012. Sacramental records are kept at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral Church.

We have indexed the Marriage Records from Holy Rosary Church from May 9, 1891 to the end of December 1940.

The English Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension was located in the Borough of Brooklyn, New York at 51st Street and 13th Avenue. It was organized and incorporated on December 18, 1907. This index contains the Marriage Records of the grooms and/or brides with Italian surnames ONLY. The records cover from September 16, 1908 to August 24, 1958. Most of the Italian members of the church and their marriages dated in the 1940s & 1950s. This Church was part and parcel of the United Lutheran Church in America and under the auspices of the United Lutheran Synod of New York which was organized in 1929 with an office at 39 East 35 Street in New York City. The last pastor was Rev. Bernardino Dell’Osso. The Church was sold in 1958 and the funds were used to erect a new church in Lake Success on Long Island. Original Records are in the possession of IGG.
